Moving While Standing Still

The Automotive Art of Stéphane Dufour

Stéphane Dufour is many things. He’s a painter, a sculptor, a designer and most importantly he is a lover of cars. Dufour got his start in France but has since transitioned to living full-time in Los Angeles. His sculptures, tiny resin silhouettes of various Porsches (and the occasional Mustang) were recently featured in the pop-up shop at Patrick Long’s Luftgekühlt gathering. His t-shirts, which he sells under the moniker 8Bolt, are sold through several large Porsche parts companies and can be seen at many gatherings.

Stéphane is an incredible artist, a genuinely nice guy, and a dyed-in-the-wool automotive enthusiast. This video by Valkyr (If you’ve seen Petrolicious, you’ve seen their work. It’s fantastic!) gives you a peek at his process and a little bit of his personal history. It also shows him making one of his gorgeous 356 resin sculptures for none other than Mr. John Benton of Benton Performance, a Southern California shop that recently took a 356 on the grueling La Carrera Panamericana.
